Shannon Powell, LIMHP, Clinical Supervisor

Life can feel overwhelming when the same struggles keep showing up in different ways. You may find yourself asking, “Why do I keep reacting like this?” or “Why can't I seem to move past this?” Many people know what they do but have no idea why they do it. Shannon believes healing begins when people stop asking, “What's wrong with me?” and start asking, “What happened that made this make sense?”

Rather than focusing only on symptoms, Shannon helps individuals, couples, and families uncover the deeper beliefs, emotional wounds, and protective patterns that shape their thoughts, emotions, relationships, and reactions. Her compassionate, insight-oriented approach helps clients make sense of their story, reduce shame, and build healthier ways of thinking, relating, and responding. As understanding grows, lasting change becomes possible.

Long before becoming a therapist, Shannon and her husband Myron spent more than a decade providing therapeutic foster care for children with significant emotional and behavioral needs. Those experiences shaped the philosophy that continues to guide her work today: people make far more sense when we understand what their behavior has been trying to protect.

Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship conflict, grief, or life transitions, Shannon provides a safe place to explore your story, discover new possibilities for healing, and move toward greater peace, freedom, and hope. For those who desire it, she also offers faith-based counseling that thoughtfully integrates biblical truth with evidence-based therapy.
